A Coastal Christmas and New Years is magical! Our idea of a winter wonderland is full of sugar-white sand beaches and mild temperatures. The crowds are smaller and the mood is even more laid-back than the busy months on the island.

So, are you wondering what there is to do at the beach during the holidays? Well, we have gathered a list of some of the fun events happening this season to keep you and your family or friends busy and entertained.

The Wharf Ice Skating Rink

Did you know you can ice skate at the beach? That’s right! Even if the temps reach the 70’s during the winter around here, the ice-skating rink at The Wharf is available for some family fun! Rent skates and take a spin around the rink. Be sure to stop for hot chocolate at Southern Grind Coffee House across the street from the ice-skating rink during your visit! Do you prefer cocktails? You can get your bushwackers and other favorite tropical cocktails at Sandshaker while you’re there!

Photos with Santa

The Wharf also offers the opportunity for photos with Santa during the holidays! You can visit Santa and then take a ride on the Ferris wheel or stop for a bite at one of the many local restaurant options on Main Street. Another delicious must-see spot is Kilwin’s! Stop in for holiday fudge, candied apples, truffles and more.

Lighted Boat Parade at LuLu’s Homeport Marina

The annual boat parade at LuLu’s is a fun tradition and really lights up the island! See boats decorated for the holidays as they parade past your family for beautiful photo opportunities.

Brunch with Santa and Storytime with the Elves at OWA Park

After you have your photos taken with Santa at The Wharf, make your way over to The Park at OWA for brunch with St. Nick! You can also enjoy story time with Santa’s elves. Santa’s helpers are there this season reading classic Christmas stories for the little ones in your life. Be sure to check out the many shopping and dining options while you’re there at OWA!

Flora-Bama New Year’s Eve Bash

Bushwackers, sparklers, champagne and your favorite island buddies – that is just the beginning of the New Year’s Eve Bash at Flora-Bama! Stop by Flora-Bama Yacht Club or Ole River Grille for dinner before the party starts and then make your way across the street to ring in 2021 on the line! There will be live music on three stages, food, party favors, classic cocktails and a champagne toast at midnight.
