7 Things to Do in May Along Alabama’s Beaches
Concerts
Concerts are being scheduled again at many venues in our area including Flora-Bama and The Wharf Amphitheater. The Wharf Amphitheater is an amazing concert venue because you can hear the bands just as well in the back seating as you can in the front. You also have plenty of shopping and dining options at The Wharf. We suggest dining before the concert at one of the local restaurants and after the show, stop by for a signature cocktail at Sandshaker, Red or White Wine Bar or try the Kentucky Mist Distillery.
Hot Air Balloon Festival
The Hot Air Balloon Festival has a new home at OWA and will take place on May 7-9th, 2021! You’ll find over 40 hot air balloons ready to take flight, plenty of family-friendly activities, local vendors and dining. After exploring the hot air balloons from all over the world, you can also visit Downtown OWA for shopping, snack and dining options plus an arcade!
Sunset Cruise
The days are longer and the sunsets light the sky on fire for the summer and what better way to experience it than on a sunset cruise?
Dolphin Cruise
The daily temperature is comfortable and evenings are cooler in the month of May which makes it a great time to book a dolphin cruise with one of the local businesses! Soak up the sun while watching the playful dolphins jump in and out of the water, chase the wake behind the boat and put on a show for everyone on board.
Coastal Art Center
If you find yourself here on a rainy day, don’t worry, we have plenty of indoor activities available. One option is the Coastal Art Center in Orange Beach. You can mold pottery, create blown glass creations or visit the Clay Studio. All classes require an appointment and you can sign up in advance on their website. Admission is free to the art center and you can shop local artwork while you’re there.
Charter Fishing
Book a charter boat for half or full day adventures on the water! Leave it to the crew to find the fish and supply the gear while you relax and enjoy the ride. Red Snapper season opens on May 28th and many charter boat companies book up weeks in advance so be sure to get your trip planned asap.
Enjoy the Beaches
